During the summer of 2001 Brother released the MFC-4800 (DR-250) targeted at small offices and home businesses. The print engine used by the MFC-4800 is widely used in other printers, fax machines and MFPs offered by Brother.
The toner cartridge has a page yield of 12,000 pages. The DR-250 drum cartridge utilizes a corona wire instead of a PCR, and a molded foam wire cleaner can be slid along the corona wire to remove the buildup that inhibits drum charging ability. There is a dense foam drum cleaner roller where the wiper blade would normally be and there is no wastebin. No chips are required for correct printer operation.
